This post is about a bassinet and how it has changed our lives.
Back in October when I was starting to become very pregnant, my tech savvy husband pitched to me the idea of buying an automated crib for our soon to be born baby. Now, if you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you have probably deduced that I am more of an old school type. Technology has it's place, but the thought of putting my baby inside a machine was instantly revolting to me.
Then I did a little research. I read about Dr. Harvey Karp (author of Happiest Baby on the Block) and his team, I watched the videos about this revolutionary new product that touted miraculous sleep results backed by science and implemented by the best designers out there. I kept on reading and researching and after much consideration (and a little bit of horror) I was willing to give it a try.
The Snoo, as it's called, arrived beautifully packaged and filled with promise. We excitedly unwrapped it, put it together ooed and ahhhed and then waited for the baby to come. I was instantly in love with it's smart modern design and how it fit into our home. But I was still worried...
So then Von arrived. After a few blissful days in the hospital cuddling my newborn, we brought him home and it was time to give the Snoo a try. I remember my feeling of both trepidation and excitement at putting him in for the first time. Would he like it? Would I feel ok about it all?
Well, it's been two months and you can probably guess that this story has a happy ending. This bed is miraculous! Let me explain why...
First and foremost, I always feel like Von is safe when he's asleep in it. Then there's the benefit of more sleep for him and for us. The way it lulls him to sleep and keeps him asleep is amazing and he absolutely loves it. I know this because of the beautiful cooing sounds that come from my sweet boy when the Snoo starts to work it's magic. He is calm and soothed and happy. I can't think of anything better than a happy baby.
Here are a few photos of the Snoo and Von and Helen, of course. We are big fans of this amazing new product and I tell every mother to be about it. For someone who is skeptical of technology, I'm converted! Yay Snoo!
