Twin Beds Redo

My last post introduced our latest design challenge, twin beds! You may remember Helen's room plan from a while back and the tour of the finished space. But now it's time for a change and I've already gotten a ton of feedback from you all! Thank you so much for all your thoughts on our next steps. So far there is a wave of support for keeping the beds in their original finish... which is exactly how I felt at first.

But, I thought I'd put a few options out there and take a vote! Below are the the three color options in context with the rest of the room. I also include my design thoughts on each option.

Vote at the end of the post!

ORIGINAL FINISH

What I LOVE about this option:

-The vintage feel of the bed contrasts really well with everything else in the room.

-It adds the element of surprise to an otherwise very modern scheme

-It's the original finish and maintains the original feel of the bed

What I DON'T LOVE about the option:

-The stain on the wood competes with the other wood elements in the room.

-The brown is very dark and draws a bit too much attention to itself making the room a bit off balance.

-It's hard to get bedding and accents that work with both the original finish and the other colors in the room.

CHARCOAL

What I LOVE about this option:

-The almost black finish works really well with the existing neutral color scheme of the room

-The dark paint modernizes an otherwise very traditional bed

-The existing maple wood brings warmth to the room without competing with another wood finish.

What I DON'T LOVE about the option:

-It's a lot of work to paint furniture and do it well.

-The color scheme is a bit muted even with the hints of green as accents

-The charcoal color is very strong and will make the beds feel bigger

ANTIBES GREEN

What I LOVE about this option:

-This color is youthful and fun

-The green brightens the entire scheme and make everything else a neutral backdrop

-It is the most modern of all the options

What I DON'T LOVE about the option:

-It's a lot of work to paint furniture and do it well.

-The color will be hard to match if I want to add other green accents to the room

-The green could get old quick and I'd have to refinish again it in a couple of years
