Fireplace Surround Update

Back at the beginning of the year I started to plan an update to our gas fireplace surround. I asked for your vote and White on White won by a big margin. I'm just getting around to working on it, but am so excited about how it's looking.

I thought I'd share an in-progress update. It's not quite ready for the big reveal yet, but here's what I've done so far.

Painting outdated tile, it turns out, is easier than I thought. After a visit to my local hardware store and some advice from the resident paint expert I got to work.

Here are the details:

-Sand all tile with Medium Grit Sandpaper Sponge

-Wipe down surface with wet cloth to remove all dust and debris

-Let dry completely

-Tape around edges with Painter's Tape

-With a brush, apply two coats of Benjamin Moore Multi-Purpose Latex Primer

-Let dry three hours between each coat

-With a roller apply two coats of Benjamin Moore Advance Interior Paint - Satin

-Let dry three hours between coats

-Carefully remove all tape

Overall it was very easy and didn't take a long time to do. Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do with the old black and gold doors, but look for the full reveal very soon!
