My Tips for Shopping Vintage Style
Over the years I have collected a few vintage dresses that I'm sure I will never part with. I love a great vintage find, and dresses are usually my go-to when shopping vintage.
This blue/purple pleated classic dress is one of my absolute favorites. The cut and fabric are spot on and it fits beautifully.
I always get a ton of compliments whenever I wear vintage, so I thought I'd share my tips for what to look for when you shop vintage. Also, it was incredibly beautiful here last week when we got 6 inches of snow, so I couldn't resist putting on something pretty and heading outdoors.

Happy Monday, Friends!!!
The very first thing I look for in a vintage dress is great a fabric. There are a lot of synthetic fabrics out there in the vintage clothing world, so keep your eyes open for wool, cotton and linen. Don't shy away from a beautiful chiffon, lace or crepe. These fabrics are timeless and will wear beautifully for many years.
Always look for pieces with interesting details. Details in clothing make them special and stand out. Even a simple piece (like the dress I'm wearing) is made special with gorgeous details. Think pleats, ruching, buttons, etc.
Be sure that it fits perfectly! This is the golden rule of shopping vintage. If it doesn't fit well, don't get it. I'm petite, so I'm lucky in that dresses from time past were much smaller than they are now. Although petite sizes are easier to find, don't be discouraged. There's so much discarded clothing out there that finding something perfect, no matter what size you are is within your reach
Don't take it all so seriously! Shopping vintage should be fun and because it's usually fairly inexpensive, there's room for a few mistakes. So take a risk and have a little bit of fun while you're at it. I've made many missteps over the years, but I've also found many gems that I know I will have forever and maybe even pass along to my daughter.
